Type of Project: Funded project Model project
Preventive – Preventive services intensive for people with incipient psychosomatic and orthopaedic complaints

Description / Topics

Prevention is now established as a central pillar in the care of people with initial health needs. The German Pension Insurance is a key player - alongside statutory health insurance - and offers prevention services based on the principle of "prevention before rehabilitation before retirement". The prevention concept is still predominantly focussed on physical needs; individual, in-depth prevention rarely takes place. At the same time, rehabilitation is often not yet indicated. The project "Praevensiv" is trialling intensified prevention services for people with orthopaedic or psychosomatic complaints. Participants first complete the standard RV Fit programme. They are then offered additional services in the area of physical movement functions such as functional training and psychosomatics such as individual and group therapy sessions with authorised psychologists. Following the intensive phase, participants have access to either the regular training phase (primarily orthopaedics) or an innovative outpatient programme for further psychotherapeutic consultations based on the established PsyRena service. The following should be emphasised: 1. Development of intensive prevention programmes 2. Combination with other occupational health programmes 3. Avoidance of rehabilitation In addition to the development of a psychosomatic prevention programme, the project also creates the possibility of early intervention in the event of manifesting medical conditions. Scientific monitoring by the University of Hildesheim evaluates the effectiveness and supports the development of the programme.
