Type of Project: Funded project Model project
BRUECKE – psychotherapeutic support while waiting for an outpatient treatment place

Description / Topics

The project takes place in the two model regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. It is aimed at people with psychological problems who have not yet received psychotherapeutic treatment. If left untreated the disease often becomes chronic and can endanger the ability to work. Rehabilitation services are also less likely to be successful. This is reflected in the high number of disability pensions due to mental illnesses. As part of this project, a time bridging intervention should take place before therapy. The bridging service also supports participants in their search for a therapy place. The target group are ill people who receive sick pay due to a mental disorder and are not receiving any psychotherapeutic treatment at the moment. A psychological assessment is carried out within a 14-day inpatient stay. To ensure individualized support for the participants, psychological counseling sessions are held as part of the inpatient stay in order to develop further support. In this phase, the focus is on providing support in finding a suitable therapy place. This is precisely where assistance is needed due to the limited capacity of therapy places in connection with possible restrictions caused by the illness itself. In addition, the aim is to stabilize or improve the psychological situation of the participants.
