Research Project
Type of Project: Funded project Scientific Work Study
Self Management in Vocational Rehabilitation

Description / Topics

Introduction:
The following intervention-trial includes factors that have been proven to be substantial for successful return to work. The issues primarily considered refer to early and strategic application activities, as well as to the personal significance of occupation.

Methods:
These factors have been integrated into two different trainings that can be attributed to self management. One of these trainings is mainly assigned to the therapeutic concept of self management by Kanfer et al. and to the Zurich Resource Model (ZRM) by Storch et Krause. It is an educational training conceptualized for groups containing 6 units about 180 min each. The second training which is also designed for group is orientated towards a concept of self learning which is already common in the bfw’s routines. It covers 5 units of the same extend.
Aim is to proof evidence and predominance of one of these two trainings in terms of employment as well as successful application activities leading to employment.
Rehabs from the 2-years-qualifications will be included to the study in 9 bfw and randomly assigned to the two groups. Outcomes as well as data for quality assurance will be collected using questionnaires during rehab, follow-up will be assessed by telephone-interview or as online-assessment 3 months past rehab.

Aim:
The main interest is to develop a training tool that can be applicated to support integration efforts within the frame of occupational rehab. The approach of evaluating parts of participation measures contributes to quality assurance within occupational rehab.
