Hospital of the Future: The research project "Hospital Engineering - Innovation Paths for the Hospital of the Future" has set itself the goal of preparing hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia for the complex requirements and competitive situation of the future. The approach is a multi-perspective view of the overall system "hospital" with a holistic examination of current innovations and their effects on adjacent sub-areas: Workplaces for the blind in the clinical-administrative area (hospital information systems/KIS): For the integration of the blind in the clinical-administrative area, complete operability of the HIS system software used is absolutely necessary. In cooperation with the BLiZ, Papenmeier develops intelligent software extensions for screen readers which, in combination with the innovative Braille displays of the BRAILLEX EL series, enable optimal work with the HIS system. This means that process steps such as master data entry, report generation, service and medical documentation can also be processed effectively by blind people.
