iBoB - inclusive vocational training without barriers

The DVBS project iBoB is dedicated to vocational further training: In order to meet the requirements of a rapidly changing world of work, vocational further training has not only become more important, but in some cases even unavoidable. However, it is often difficult, especially for blind and visually impaired employees, to find suitable and at the same time accessible offers. For this reason, the German Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Study and Work (DVBS) recently launched the "iBoB" project. iBoB stands for "inclusive vocational training without barriers" and aims to make it easier for people with disabilities, especially blind and visually impaired people, to participate in vocational training and continuing education. In doing so, iBoB acts in the triangle between employees, employers and vocational training providers. One focus: further training advice and mentoring. People with visual impairments and their employers receive advice on finding suitable training opportunities. Mentoring means: people with disabilities advise people with disabilities and refer them to experienced blind and visually impaired mentors. Employees with disabilities should thus benefit from their experience, receive advice and recommendations for practical solutions, but also draw courage and motivation. After all, people with disabilities are good experts in their own right. In addition, a sustainable training program is to be developed in cooperation with committed training providers. In order to bring supply and demand together, the iBoB team will set up a training platform with suitable offers. In this way, further education offers and advice will be easily and quickly accessible via the Internet. In addition, training providers and employers will receive support in the challenge of implementing accessibility in documentation, methodology and didactics, but also in daily work. This leads to another focus: consulting for employers and educational providers. iBoB offers the former comprehensive support for the professional development of their disabled employees and designs solution strategies together with them. The same applies to educational institutions that are open to barrier-free educational offers and see them as a unique selling point and market opportunity. They profit, in that they receive consultation for a barrier-free production of their training materials or can let train their personnel in barrier-free instruction methods.
