UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on the Local Level

Description / Topics

In the process of implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), numerous municipalities in Germany have taken up the impulse to strengthen the rights of persons with disabilities in the local context. In doing so, many municipalities have used the policy approach 'action plan' or a similar format. In order to encourage further municipalities to systematically implement the UN CRPD and to improve the success of such processes, support services for municipalities are to be developed.

On the one hand, the project serves to take stock of the ways in which municipalities have become active in developing an inclusive community in participatory planning and working structures. Based on the findings, recommendations and tools for the support of municipalities are to be developed.
