Aim:
A participatory research approach will be focused, where existing access barriers and usage needs of people with intellectual disabilities in museums are examined. People with intellectual disabilities should be considered as an equal group of visitors in exhibition concepts and mediation offers and should be actively involved in the design process.
Cultural participation:
In cooperation with the Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum in Bremerhaven, cultural participation offers for people with intellectual disabilities are to be strengthened. To enable people with intellectual disabilities to make an individual, successful visit to the museum, we examine and test the potential of digital assistive technologies as an offer of mediation.
