Assistance Robots for People with disabilities

Description / Topics

As consequence to the demographic change the number of people with disabilities in Germany grows continuously. Simultaneously, the number of available carers decreases. Against this background it shall be examined if mobile service robots could be a help for people with disabilities.

The following exciting questions are central:
What kind of help do people with disabilities need?
To what extent can service robots give this aid economically in the near future?
How should such a robot be constructed?
How should the person and robot communicate? (human-machine-interface) To what extent are such machines accepted by potential users as replacement or supplement of human aid?
To what extent are other technical tools suitable?
