Inclusive Education for people with disabilities

Joint community project of DRK (German Red Cross) and AWO provincial sections of Saxony Objectives: We provide training for people with disability thus enabling them to live in our society as equally sovereign citizens. We offer tutorials to disabled people, who then counsel other people on topics, such as the right to vote, personal budget, UN convention on rights for disabled people. We support schools and other educational institutions with our training modules. We support disabled people and educational institutions in linking up to a network. Project period: 1st July 2011 until 30th June 2014 Our activities: - Implementation of the UN Disability Rights Convention - Presentations for disabled people and their next-of-kin - Presentations in schools for children with special needs, at colleges and universities - Staff briefings - Selection of educational topics together with disabled people - Drafting and implementation of educational modules (basic, advanced and specialisation courses) - Educational modules for and with disabled people - Network meetings - Public relations - Foundation of project advisory councils
