Implementation of Inclusion Competence at Chambers in the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IvIK)

The main objective of the project is to expand the chamber's own range of consulting services to include competencies for inclusion. In particular, companies are to be made aware of the training opportunities for severely disabled people and provided with professional support in the event of challenges in vocational training. To this end, a new service offering on the topic of "inclusion" is being set up: - Establishment of sustainable advisory and support competence at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce through the deployment of an inclusion advisor: All of the Chamber's training advisors are to be trained so that they can attract and advise companies on the vocational training of young people with disabilities in the long term. In order to build up sustainable advisory and support competence among the IHK training advisors, the inclusion advisor conducts a workshop with the training advisors in which the basic knowledge of inclusion is imparted. Further in-depth workshops are to be offered by the inclusion consultant. In addition, the inclusion consultant will actively promote training positions for (severely) disabled young people as part of the training counseling. In particular, the areas of office, warehouse/logistics and sales are to be advertised, as this is where the greatest potential for possible vocational training is seen. The area of responsibility also includes advising trainees with disabilities on compensation for disadvantages in intermediate and final examinations. Due to his additional training in rehabilitation pedagogy, the inclusion advisor supports companies that want to carry out regular vocational training. - Development of a practical guide for training companies: As part of the project, a practical guide for training companies is being developed and made available to training companies in the form of a brochure. This guide is intended to help companies to systematically and successfully implement vocational training with people with disabilities. In addition to specific topics such as possible funding and support options, highlighting the potential of (severely) disabled people and information on labor law, the brochure will list regional contacts in the field of inclusion as well as regional instruments to support companies that want to train young people with disabilities. - Documentation of best practice models: In order to convince companies of the "added value" of vocational training for people with disabilities, best practice models from the region will be collected and presented in the form of several articles in the IHK magazine "Niedersächsische Wirtschaft" (circulation of 45,000 copies). At the end of the project period, these will be summarized in a brochure. In addition, articles will be written for the chamber's own newsletter. The newsletter reaches about 5,000 readers. - Networking and cooperation: Another goal of the project is to expand contact with regional agents in the field of job inclusion. So far, contacts have already been established with the rehabilitation counseling service of the employment agency, vocational schools and vocational training centers.
