BEWEMAKO - Jobs - Mathematical competences

Vocational careers of special needs students in Baden-Württemberg and their significance for pedagogical work to promote mathematical competencies as a partial aspect of job aptitude The project examines in an exemplary manner which mathematical competencies in terms of job aptitude are required of special needs students to successfully cope with everyday situations in the most important learned, semi-skilled and unskilled jobs. The research project is structured by the following three guiding questions: 1. Which jobs are typical for special needs students? In a retention study, the career paths of former special needs students in Baden-Württemberg (districts of Neckar-Odenwald and Rhein-Neckar, as well as Heidelberg and Mannheim) were recorded between July and February 2009. 2which mathematical competencies in the sense of occupational aptitude are required in these jobs and what importance is attached to them as part of occupational aptitude? Mathematical competencies in the sense of occupational aptitude are filtered out for the most common learned, semi-skilled and unskilled jobs of special needs students surveyed. 3how can these job-relevant mathematical competencies (in the sense of job aptitude) be promoted sustainably during the school years and after school, independent of the place of learning? The results of the study lead to a concept for the promotion of job-relevant mathematical competencies
