The "Schule (ge)schafft" project gives 10 socially disadvantaged students per school year a weekly insight into various trades and thus promotes training maturity and the chance of getting an apprenticeship. Which pupils take part? Pupils from the Mooswald School in Freiburg (school for educational assistance) and the Education and Advice Center for the Hearing Impaired in Stegen can take part in the project. The young people work in a company every Wednesday for a year, constructing and testing their practical skills. What are the contents? The students are guided by a trainer from the skilled trades and carry out activities from various vocational training occupations. They receive feedback on their technical and social skills. At the end of the school year, they receive a certificate signed by the Freiburg Chamber of Crafts. Where does the project take place? In the training workshops of the Freiburg Trade Academy, the students go through the areas of automotive & bodywork, dry construction, metalworking, goldsmithing, mechatronics, wood construction, two-wheel technology and plumbing. Furthermore, the students get an insight into gardening and landscaping at the "Stadtgärtnerei Freiburg". At the Laubenhof senior citizens' residence, they gain experience in home economics and geriatric care. How is the project financed? The "Schule (ge)schafft" project is financed entirely by donations. The financial framework is about 18.000,-€ per school year.
