Opening up new fields of activity for school leavers with learning difficulties

The Jena Centre's project Opening up new fields of activity for school leavers with learning difficulties is aimed at girls who are unable to complete vocational training due to their disability or who have not successfully completed vocational preparation measures. In order to increase their chances of placement on the general labor market, areas of activity beyond the typical female fields of work are opened up through internships and qualifications. Employers in the region are made aware of the need to train and employ disabled people. Continuous cooperation is established through sponsorships between companies and schools. Previous contacts to companies are used and through further intensive employer acquisition a pool of employers is created who are willing to qualify the young women by means of a job coach in the workplace. As a result of the project, a guideline with action strategies will be published, which will serve other initiatives, schools and companies for information and application.
