Project-accompanying evaluation of explorative application scenarios of AI-supported assistance systems for people with (severe) disabilities in the world of work as part of the "KI-Kompass Inklusiv" project

The aim of the evaluation of this sub-project of "KI-Kompass Inklusiv" is the process-accompanying survey and evaluation of the benefits and use of AI-supported assistance systems in different application scenarios: Different AI-supported assistance technologies are tested in the so-called employer practice labs of the three rehabilitation worlds of Vocational Training Centres, Vocational Training Centres and workshops for people with disabilities. Within the BMAS-funded project "KI-Kompass Inklusiv" (www.ki-kompass-inklusiv.de), opportunities, but also possible obstacles of AI-supported technologies in workplace settings of the general labor market and in the transition from vocational rehabilitation to the general labor market are to be explored in a participatory manner. The evaluation of the practical laboratories as part of this work package will examine which AI-supported assistance technologies are suitable under which conditions to contribute to better participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in the general labor market. The central objectives are: - Human-centered development, Testing and evaluation of AI-supported assistance systems as elements of a socio-technical workplace setting for people with disabilities on the general labor market - Identification of success and inhibiting factors in the transformation of non-inclusive workplaces into inclusive workplaces and in supporting the transition from vocational rehabilitation to the general labor market through the use of AI-supported assistance systems - Development of recommendations for the use of AI-supported assistance systems for the inclusion of people with disabilities on the general labor market, including with regard to the specifics of the general labor market.with a view to the specifics of the respective rehabilitation environments. For the evaluation project, similar surveys adapted to the respective application context of the selected assistance technology are carried out in each of the practical laboratories. These include initial and final surveys of participants in simple language, monitoring usage and barriers during the trial using an online usage diary, on-site usage observations and interviews with accompanying professionals and other people in the workplace. Interim results specific to the practical laboratory will be continuously incorporated into the evaluation and adaptations of the AI-supported assistance technologies during the course of the project. After completion of this sub-project, recommendations for action will be derived for continuation and expansion based on the evaluations and findings as well as the results of validation workshops with users, accompanying professionals, clients and other experts. The client for the evaluation of the "Explorative application scenarios of AI-supported assistance systems for people with (severe) disabilities in the world of work" is the Federal Association of Vocational Training Centres. The project consortium of the "KI-Kompass Inklusiv" project also includes DFKI, the Federal Association of Vocational Training Centers (BAG BBW) and the Federal Association of Workshops for People with Disabilities (BAG WfbM).
