Das Projekt unterstützt junge Menschen mit Lernschwierigkeiten oder Lernbehinderungen im Übergang Schule/Beruf bei der Integration in Ausbildung und Arbeit. Vor Beginn des Auslandsaufenthaltes werden am Heimatort fachpraktische Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten in sechs Berufsfeldern vermittelt. Sprach- und interkulturelles Training bereiten auf den Auslandsaufenthalt vor. Transnationaler Partner ist die Embrace Cooperation Ltd in Bunrley, Großbritannien - ein langjähriger Kooperationspartner des Vereins KIDS & CO mit fundierter Erfahrung bei der Qualifizierung und Betreuung Jugendlicher mit Behinderungen. Während des zweimonatigen Auslandeinsatzes wird zunächst ein praxisbezogener an der Situation der Teilnehmer/innen orientierter Sprachunterricht durchgeführt. Das Praktikum erfolgt im erlernten Beruf bzw. je nach Berufswunsch in den Bereichen Handel, Gastronomie, Büro und Verwaltung, Gartenbau, Handwerk, Soziales und Gesundheit.
Um die Integration und die Lebensplanung der Teilnehmer/innen nachhaltiger zu unterstützen, findet in der letzten Woche ein Workshop LifeDreams4You statt, in welchem Vorstellungen für die Zukunftsplanung und der Weg zu deren Realisierung erarbeitet werden.
Die Erfahrung der Projektpartner in Bezug auf gelingende Methoden für die Motivierung und Aktivierung besonders benachteiligter Jugendlicher durch transnationale Mobilität steht im Mittelpunkt der jährlich stattfindenden Austausche von Expert/innen. Neben Seminaren und Workshops für ein Methodentraining in Deutschland, die von britischen Expert/innen durchgeführt werden, sind Studienbesuche der Kooperationspartner in England vorgesehen. Ziel ist es, gemeinsam Konzepte zu entwickeln und regionale Projektangebote für eine verbesserte Integration behinderter und benachteiligter bzw. von Ausgrenzung bedrohter junger Menschen in Beschäftigung zu qualifizieren.

IdA Project
The project supports young people with learning difficulties or learning disabilities to make the transition from school to job, integrating them into training and work. Before the start of the stay abroad, professional skills are imparted in six vocational fields at home. Linguistic and intercultural training prepare them for the stay abroad. Our transnational partners, Embrace Cooperation Ltd in Burnley, UK, with whom KIDS & CO have had a longstanding cooperation, have developed well founded experience in the qualification and care of young people with disabilities. The two-month stay abroad starts off with the exploration of the new surroundings and practice-related language training that is focused on the situation of the respective participants. The internship is performed in the job they have trained for or in the job they are aspiring to in the areas of trade, catering, office and administration, landscaping, crafts, social work and health.
In order to lend sustained support to the integration and life planning of the participants, there is a workshop called LifeDreams4You held in the last week, in which life dreams and routes to their fulfilment are drawn up.
The experience of the project partners with regard to successful methods for motivating and activating disadvantaged young people through transnational mobility is the centrepiece of annual exchanges among experts. Apart from seminars and workshops for method training in Germany, conducted by British experts, study visits of the cooperation partners in England are planned. The goal is to develop shared concepts and regional project offers for an improved integration of disabled and disadvantaged young people and to qualify those threatened by marginalisation to take on employment.
